UPKEEP YOUR BODY CARE ROUTINE DURING AUTUMN-WINTER PART 1

So December is here, and the festive season is right around the corner. As a London-based Sugaring and Spray Tanning studio, our priority is to inform our clients on how best to care for their bodies during our ever-changing weather.

It's time to dust off those winter jackets, crank up the heat, (not too much though *cries in cost of living*), stick that kettle on, and you know the rest.

With most of us in the UK starting to wear more and go out less, where does that leave us with our go-to beauty treatments?

The term beauty treatment actually means to enhance or improve someone’s beauty with treatment, and we’d like to think we’re about way more than aesthetics at S&S.

Do some of us love the look of a freshly sugared vulva or a glowy tan? Yes, but for those who choose to sugar certain or all areas of our body or have sun-kissed glowing sun beyond the summer, it’s more of a lifestyle maintenance commitment, vital to upkeep throughout all seasons of the year.

Find out why ⬇️

Sugaring - You & your hair growth cycle

One of the benefits of sugaring is its ability to create a hair growth refinery. To get the full advantage of this benefit, sticking to your hair maintenance routine is key.

There are 3 stages of hair growth

Anagen, the active hair growing stage. Usually resembling stubble, it can last from 2-7 days.

Catagen, stepping in straight after the Anagen phase, the Catagen phase signals the end of active growth of a hair bulb, lasting around 2-3 weeks.

Telogen, the dormant (shedding) stage of the cycle, hair tends to fall out at this stage as the follicle is shallow in the skin and has a shaft with no bulb at the base to anchor it. During the Telogen stage, new hair grows in the hair follicle.

Despite the Telogen stage being the easiest to extract hair, the most effective is the Anagen stage. The strong and healthy hair bulb will fill the follicle and the removal causes friction and scraping of the inner root sheath against the follicle.

Sticking to your S&S routine (every 3-4 weeks) means we’ll usually catch your hair in the Anagen or Catagen stage. This can result in the depletion of the hair follicle, making the hair grow back thinner, finer, and easier to extract.

Spray Tanning - In winter too

There are benefits to upkeeping your spray tan treatments in colder months, besides looking and feeling great but we’ll start there. Colder weather means we’re exposed to less radiation, in winter our skin can become lighter and drier.

Keeping up with your spray tan treatments means that you can still appear to have bright and glowy skin even though it may be grey and dull outside.

You’ll also be forced to upkeep your body care routine, and not just accept the winter weather skin changes. Spray tanning treatments require you to exfoliate before the process, helping you to get rid of any dead skin cells.

We do a lot of pre-holiday spray tans. You don’t have to wait until day 3 of your holiday to finally see some results. Starting with a spray tan and topping up your glow means you’re less likely to burn and damage your skin, especially if you have paler skin. If you don’t want to tan at all? Perfect, you’re natural looking glow will have you looking sun-kissed without the sun.

So, hair growth cycle? Check. Spray tanning benefits? Check!

That’s just part one sweet, and we’ll be sure to give you ALL of the Autumn Winter treatment benefits, but we didn’t want to bombard you with too much info at once. Be sure to stay tuned and look out for part 2, coming very soon.
